Optimizing Virtual Meetings

With the shift to remote work, more and more time is being spent in virtual meetings—and the truth is, those meetings are often unnecessary, draining, or even disruptive to productivity and workflow.

In this workshop, members of distributed or hybrid teams will assess their use of sync, async and blended collaborations. As a group, we’ll practice async prework and postwork, and identify tools, strategies and tactics for productive and engaging sync meetings. From this conversation, individuals and teams will commit to behavior changes, and the Workplaceless team will share recommendations for next steps.

Preventing Isolation and Burnout

Isolation and burnout are two of the most common challenges in remote and hybrid teams.

In this workshop, members of distributed or hybrid teams will share concerns and recognize signs of isolation and burnout in virtual teams. As a group, we’ll identify strategies and tactics for how to mitigate these risks, and discuss what is needed from colleagues and leaders to manage isolation and burnout. From this conversation, individuals and teams will commit to behavior changes, and the Workplaceless team will share recommendations for next steps.

  • Health & Wellness: identify health and wellness risks in remote work and strategies to alleviate them.
  • Relationships: develop meaningful and healthy relationships with remote colleagues.
  • Social Capital: develop and maintain bonding, bridging, and linking social capital.
  • Self-Advocacy: learn policies resources to protect one’s own wellbeing, rights, and career.
Outcomes:

Create individual and team commitments to tackle burnout and isolation. Generate potential next steps for Team Boundaries Agreement. The Workplaceless team will generate recommendations for individuals and leadership based on the conversation.

Cultivating Trust and Connection

This workshop is for distributed, remote, or hybrid teams who want to cultivate a positive remote work culture. Ideal as an introduction to best practices in remote and hybrid leadership and work environments, this interactive session presents the keys needed to establish the foundation for cultivating a successful remote work culture across distance: building trust, setting expectations for communication, and establishing intentional management practices.

  • Trust: develop trust in remote teams
  • Psychological Safety: contribute to a culture that allows risk-taking by accepting and respecting team members
  • Team Culture: develop a positive remote work culture within a team
  • Managing Communication: facilitate effective communication among team members

Create individual and team commitments to enhancing trust and communication. Generate potential next steps for team culture or communication charters. The Workplaceless team will generate recommendations for individuals and leadership based on the conversation.

Strengthening Distributed Relationships

Strengthening relationships can decrease isolation and increase trust and transparency on remote and hybrid teams. In this workshop, teams will practice self-disclosure and active listening, and use affirmations and coaching language to deepen interpersonal relationships at work. Finally, informational conversations will help employees increase connections across their organization and professional communities, deepening relationships and broadening networks.

Listening: Ability to not just hear but truly internalize what’s being said in synchronous communication exchanges across distance.

Relationships: Ability to develop meaningful and healthy relationships with remote colleagues.

Networking: Ability to leverage professional relationships in a remote setting.

Building a Communication Charter

Remote and hybrid work requires explicit documentation of synchronous and asynchronous communication norms. Effective teams use a communication charter, or an agreement about communication norms.

As a group, we’ll determine channels to prioritize, frequency of communication, general expectations, and examples specific to your team. From this conversation, individuals and teams will commit to completing and implementing the charter, and the Workplaceless team will share recommendations for next steps.

  • Language of Remote Work: interpret and use accurate terminology to describe work in a distributed environment.
  • Remote Communication Tools: use tools to facilitate communication in a distributed environment.
  • Channel and Mode Switching: choose appropriate communication channels in a remote setting.
  • Collaboration: work with others on a remote or hybrid team to carry out a task.
     
Outcomes:

Create a communication charter that articulates channels and expectations for your department or organization. The Workplaceless team will generate recommendations for individuals and leadership based on the conversation.

Introduction to Effective Remote Work

Effective remote work habits are critical for productive and engaged distributed and hybrid teams.

As a group, we’ll determine strategies for immediately improving two competency areas critical to remote work success: focus and communication. Individuals and teams will identify plans for leveling up to sustainable remote and hybrid work, and the Workplaceless team will share recommendations for next steps.

  • Remote Communication Tools: use tools to facilitate communication in a distributed environment.
  • Channel and Mode Switching: choose appropriate communication channels in a remote setting.
  • Productivity: understand and meet expectations for performance and productivity in a distributed environment.
Outcomes:

Implement tiny action plans for sustainable remote work in your role or organization. The Workplaceless team will share recommendations and resources based on the topics discussed.

Typical workshop formats
Length

All workshops are typically two hours with a 10-minute break at the halfway point.

Workshops can be combined to create longer learning experiences or retreats.

Delivery

Workshops are highly interactive sessions with your team members, guided by an expert Workplaceless facilitator.

Each workshop is delivered virtually with asynchronous prework completed by each attendee in advance.

Capacity

We require a minimum of 10 attendees and can hold workshops for up to 40 people.

For larger events, additional workshops can be purchased.
